Picturing Numbers
An exploration based on a set of energy data. We are living in a world surrounded by all sorts of data, but people barely pay attention to those numbers. Through transforming the numbers into graphics, my goal is to have readers easily understand tedious data and transfer important information into attractive graphics.
Challenge
I was only given an energy input table as a starting point, it is difficult for me to imagine numbers into graphics at the first glance. I started with lines and circles, but struggled on nuclear, since it provides enormous energy that other energies can’t compare with.
The numbers gap among different energies is making the graphic less visually pleasing. It was difficult to balance all the other energies with nuclear before I was inspired by variations and thickness of lines, and realized how composition matters in a creative project.
